In July, Mexico City embraces its rainy season while maintaining pleasantly mild conditions. Daytime highs typically hover between 22°C and 26°C (72°F to 79°F), providing a comfortable atmosphere for exploring the city. Evenings see cooler but still agreeable temperatures of around 12°C to 15°C (54°F to 59°F).
Although showers and occasional thunderstorms are common, especially in the afternoons, they tend to be brief, leaving ample time to enjoy Mexico City’s vibrant streets and cultural offerings.
The light breezes and fresh post-rain air add a charming element to the city’s inviting mid-summer ambiance.
A valid passport is required for entry.
Travelers may be asked to show proof of a return or onward ticket.
Entry requirements vary depending on your country of residence. Please consult your local travel advisory and Mexico’s Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) for information on countries that require visas.
This experience is designed for active travelers who feel comfortable running a half marathon and spending several days exploring Mexico City on foot. The running itself takes place on urban roads and is not technical, but the city’s high altitude adds an extra layer of challenge. Mexico City sits approximately 2,240 m / 7,350 ft above sea level, so effort can feel noticeably different from running at lower elevations.
Distances:
Runs throughout the experience range from approximately 5 to 8 km, building up to the 21.1 km / 13.1 mi Mexico City Half Marathon on the final day. All of the runs outside of race day are designed to be friendly, relaxed, and social, with all paces welcome. The focus is on moving together, getting to know the city, and keeping the legs fresh rather than speed or performance.
Race Pace:
Our experiences are about discovery and connection, not speed, and during our group runs you are welcome to move at your own comfortable pace. On race day, however, the Mexico City Half Marathon requires runners to maintain a minimum pace of 8:30 min/km, equivalent to a maximum finishing time of 3 hours. Runners who fall behind the official cutoff may be picked up by the sweeper vehicle and will not receive an official finishing result.
Terrain:
Expect predominantly paved city streets and roads throughout the experience. While the terrain is generally non-technical, running at Mexico City’s elevation may make the effort feel more demanding than the same distances at sea level. We recommend arriving with a solid running base and allowing your body time to adjust to the altitude.
Longest Run: 21.1 km / 13.1 mi
Elevation: Approx. 2,240 m / 7,350 ft above sea level

Both his grandparents and parents were avid mountaineers and ultra-distance runners and his deep-rooted love for nature and physical activity was instilled in him from a young age. For years, he has been engaged in mountain trail running, not merely as a sport but as a means of healing and exploring new horizons. He has been actively involved in alternative education initiatives, forest therapy, sustainable tourism, and nature guiding. Collaborating with organizations, universities, and the private sector, Santiago believes that transformative experiences in nature can heal our relationship with ourselves and, consequently, with the environment affected by the environmental crisis. A natural explorer, Santiago’s passion has led him to set records on many of the country’s highest mountains, including Pico de Orizaba, Iztaccíhuatl, Nevado de Toluca, and Tacaná. We acknowledge that we gather on the ancestral lands of the Mexica, Otomí, Mazahua, Mixtec, Zapotec, and many other Indigenous peoples who have lived in and around this valley for millennia. Mexico City stands on the ancient lake beds of Anáhuac, once home to vibrant ecosystems and to Tenochtitlán, the capital of the Mexica world.
We honor the resilience of Indigenous peoples who continue to live, work, and create here, and whose cultures, languages, and traditions endure despite centuries of colonization. We recognize their ongoing struggles for justice and sovereignty, and commit ourselves to walking these lands with awareness, respect, and humility.
