Your Adventure Itinerary

We will start the day by meeting at 10 am in a local coffee shop in Athens, followed by a short hike to a viewpoint on Lycabettus Hill. After taking in the wonderful panoramic views of the city, we’ll run through the vibrant streets of Athens, concluding at the base of the Acropolis. We will visit a traditional Greek bakery for lunch and experience our first taste of authentic local flavors.

Afterward, we’ll drive to our accommodation in Kalamata, where we can relax or enjoy a late afternoon swim before gathering on the beach for a welcome sunset dinner.

This day, we will travel back in time and visit the surroundings of Ancient Messene, a well-preserved site in the Peloponnese area. As we run, we’ll discover parts of the ancient city walls while taking in breathtaking views of the Messini plains and olive groves. Then, we will enter the Messene site to explore this historic city’s ruins.

For lunch, we will journey into the “Castle of Androusa” to tour a working olive oil factory, indulge in an olive oil tasting, and enjoy a delicious lunch. Back in Kalamata, we’ll have some free time to explore the city or chill by the beach. We will gather for beach meditation and enjoy a sunset swim at the end of the day.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Included

Accommodation: Kalamata | Twin Share

Today, we will explore the birthplace of the Olympic Games. As we arrive in the modern town of Ancient Olympia, the archaeological site of the original Olympic Games will gradually reveal itself as we run around its perimeter. After the run, we’ll have the opportunity to explore the ruins and feel the vibrant athletic energy that permeates the area.

We will conclude our time in Ancient Olympia with lunch at a local taverna. Afterward, we’ll have some free time to wander through the small town before returning to Kalamata for an optional walking tour of the Old Town. We’ll end the day with a sunset swim.

Today, we bid farewell to Kalamata and drive to the charming seaside village of Kardamyli. Our route will involve an 8 km run, traversing on ancient stone paths (known as kalderimi), passing through small villages, and enjoying views of the olive groves and the sea.

Upon arriving in Kardamyli, we’ll have lunch together, followed by free time to explore the village of Old Kardamyli and enjoy a swim in the sea. After this relaxing time by the coast, we will say goodbye to the seaside and transfer to the historic hilltop settlement of Areopolis.

Depending on the group’s energy levels, we will start the day exploring the roads and trails surrounding Areopolis, either through a run or a hike. After taking in the stunning views of the Ionian Sea, we’ll conclude our adventure at the Sea Caves of Diros. Here, punted boats will take us into the caves to observe the fascinating stalactite formations (subject to sea-level conditions).

In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy free time relaxing at the lodging or exploring the village of Areopolis. This charming town is known for its stone towers, cobbled streets, and its historical significance during the Greek War of Independence.

Today we will explore the tower villages that look over the village port of Gerolimenas, a scenic coastal village known for its clear waters, old stone houses, and relaxing atmosphere. We start the adventure with a short hike up a stone path to the village of Leodakis. Afterwards we continue up a gentle road to the almost forgotten hilltop village of Moudanistika, where crumbling stone towers still stand sentry over the southern tip of Mani.

Lunch in Gerolimenas will be followed by a short swim in a nearby secluded beach. Afterwards, we will explore Vathia, a stunning, semi-abandoned village famous for its tower houses, offering a glimpse into the traditional Maniot architecture.

We then make our way down to the southernmost tip of mainland Greece, Cape Tainaron, where we will see the well preserved mosaics of the Temple Of Poseidon, before making our way down to watch a magical sunset next to the lighthouse of Tainaron (weather dependent). We will take a moment to reflect and meditate on the journey through this magical land.

A final farewell dinner will follow our trip to Tainaron at a local Mani restaurant.

In October, the heat of the Greek summer is slowly fading. However, you can still expect daytime temperatures to hover around 23°C to 27°C (73°F to 80°F), making it just right for outdoor adventures in the mornings and late afternoons. The Peloponnese region rarely experiences rainfall at this time of the year, but the odd shower has been known to pass by. Water temperatures are still relatively warm, meaning swimming at any time of the day is possible.
