Overview

Nestled in the foothills of the Ariège region, this retreat combines the thrill of running and hiking through the breathtaking valleys of the Oriental Pyrénées. Join us as we traverse the stunning Cerdanya Valley, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, at a relaxed, intentional pace, perfect for savoring each moment and taking in the surroundings. 


This six-day adventure will take you on the trails of the French Pyrénées mountain range, with expert guidance, restorative yoga sessions, unique lodging, and delicious local food. 

Your Adventure Itinerary

On our first day, we’ll meet at Toulouse and drive above the rolling foothills of the Pyrénees towards our first destination, the charming town of Foix. After a delicious welcome lunch, we’ll take on a 7 km chill hike through the scenic farmlands.

Following our hike, we’ll continue to the picturesque Cerdanya Valley and the village of Angoustrine, where a restful afternoon awaits at La Grande Maison Rouge. This beautifully restored 19th-century village house, filled with character and history, will be our home for the next few days.

Today will be all about getting comfortable with our surroundings. La Grande Maison Rouge sits at 1400m altitude in a valley amidst the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrénées. We’ll kick off the day with a yoga session before breakfast, taking in the mountain air.

After a homemade breakfast, we’ll come together for our first run and get acquainted with trail running in the area, followed by a hot spring session at the traditional Roman Baths of Dorres.

Today, we’ll embrace the opportunity to stretch our legs and explore the trails around the stunning Lac des Bouillouses. Fed by mountain waters, the lake glistens with crystal clarity, and our 13km undulating trail will lead us through a captivating landscape beneath the majestic high peaks.

We will savor a delightful lunch by the lakeside, taking our time to soak in the beauty before returning to our lodge for a relaxing afternoon.

We will start our day with a restorative yoga practice, allowing us to center ourselves before journeying to the charming village of Gaudies. Along the way, we will pause at La Grange Aux Abeilles, immersing ourselves in the fascinating world of honey and bees and their vital role in the ecosystem we are exploring. 

A brief 15-minute drive will take us to Zero Neuf, a stunning restored farmstead. Our host, Joss, will prepare a heartfelt dinner and welcome us into our home for the remainder of this trip.

We’ll kick off the day by consciously restoring our mind and body through our yoga practice. A final loop from our doorstep will take us through winding farm lanes and nearby villages, where we’ll pause to appreciate the breathtaking view of the Pyrénées mountains.

In the afternoon, we will have free time to retreat to our favorite spot or take a refreshing dip in the nearby river before coming together for our memorable farewell dinner.

In the morning, we’ll set out on the picturesque, flat farm trails, taking in the beauty of our surroundings as we celebrate our journey with a farewell breakfast.

Afterward, we’ll drive back to Toulouse, concluding our experience at a local restaurant, where those who wish can stay for an optional lunch before continuing their onward adventures.

The first three nights of the experience will be spent at the village of Angoustrine in La Grande Maison Rouge. This beautifully restored 1800s village house sits at 1400m altitude in a valley offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks of the Pyrénées.

 

For nights 4 and 5, your accommodation awaits at Zero Neuf, a beautifully transformed 1800s riverside farmhouse nestled in the heart of the village of Gaudies.

** Standard accommodation option involves shared lodging. However, you have the choice to enhance your experience by upgrading to private accommodations at check-out.

In June, the Oriental Pyrénées region generally experiences moderate temperatures, although it can be quite rainy. Daytime temperatures typically reach around 16°C, while nighttime temperatures can drop to about 6°C, so be prepared for some chill in the evenings. Frequent showers are common during this month, so bringing rain gear is a good idea to stay comfortable and make the most of your time outdoors.

– Long sleeve thermal (Merino, polypropylene or similar) top in addition to the clothing worn for the run.
– Sandals, bathing suit, and quick-drying towel.

– Night Lamp or headlamp. Min. 100 lumens.
